The stone cottage was built in 1956 and was lovingly built by the original owner who was a stone mason. It took him five years to complete and he lost his hearing in the process. He used Tenino sandstone from a government building in Portland, Oregon that was torn down. The home is roughly 1000 square feet and since his family was apostolic lutheran, there was at one time 12 children living in the home. Originally, the property was 40 acres and over time, he parcelled it out to his children. None of the original family lives here anymore but do come back to visit and reminisce. We bought the stone cottage in 2008 and immediately felt at home. The cottage sits on 8 beautiful acres and we have the best parcel in all of Yacolt, WA since it is flat, usable and has a mix of both pasture and woods.
We are currently a family of three with our beautiful daughter and wonderful livestock and home guard dogs. Our long term goal is to always put our family first, stay home more, work less and develop a beautiful working farm.
